Children's Flax Weaving Workshops

Discover the creativity and tradition of harakeke weaving through these fun, hands-on Matariki workshops for tamariki. Children will learn how to weave traditional whetū (stars), putiputi (flowers), and bracelets while building confidence, patience, and creativity in a supportive environment. These engaging sessions are a wonderful way for young people to connect with Māori arts and celebrate the Matariki season. Registration is required as spaces are limited.

Workshop One | 10.00am-11.00am | Whetū & Putiputi | 10 spaces available | Ages 5–8 (must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver)

Workshop Two | 11.30am-12.30pm | Whetū & Putiputi | 15 spaces available | Ages 8–10

Workshop Three | 1.30pm-2.30pm | Whetū, Putiputi & Bracelets | 15 spaces available | Ages 10+
