Himatangi Beach StoryWalk®

A third permanent StoryWalk® for the Manawatū District is now available at Himatangi Beach Skatepark, 3/3 Basketball and Leisure Space for everyone to enjoy. Manawatū District Libraries and Manawatū District Council Parks staff have brought another children’s story to life.

Award winning Tama and the Taniwha written by New Zealand author Melanie Koster with eye-catching illustrations designed by Melanie’s daughter Monica Koster. We would like to say a big thanks to Scholastic New Zealand (PDF file, 820 KB) for working with us to make this StoryWalk® possible.

The story integrates Māori words and phrases for the reader to enjoy. The library team proudly recognize that our Storywalks® reignite the imagination and childlike sense of discovery for readers of all ages.

Himatangi Beach, leisure space with the new StoryWalk® also has a redesigned flying fox, pump track, skatepark that has been repurposed from the Feilding skatepark redevelopment, and a covered BBQ area in addition to a tennis court and playground all situated right next to a beautiful beach.

We highly recommend adding Himatangi Beach to your to do list as a must-see Manawatū District local experience.
