Makerspace Showcase 2026

What began as an idea became a celebration of creativity, innovation, and community at Te Āhuru Mōwai in June, as Manawatū Community Hub Libraries hosted its first-ever Makerspace Showcase.

The event brought together an inspiring group of local makers, creators, schools, community organisations, families, and small businesses, all showcasing projects they had developed with the support of the Makerspace. From intricate architectural models and te reo Māori creations to custom vinyl-cut designs and 3D printed products, the quality and variety of work on display highlighted the incredible talent within our community.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was the opportunity to speak directly with makers about their creations. Visitors were able to hear firsthand about the ideas behind each project, the skills they had developed, and the passion that drives their work. These conversations brought each display to life and demonstrated the important role the Makerspace plays in helping people turn ideas into reality.

The showcase also featured a range of interactive activities, including a Sticker Rally, personalised badge making, and an Etch a Glass activity, giving visitors the opportunity to get creative themselves while exploring the event.

The Makerspace Showcase highlighted the wonderful work being produced through the Makerspace but also inspired visitors to explore their own creative potential. The enthusiasm, craftsmanship, and sense of community on display made the event a memorable success, and we look forward to celebrating even more makers in the future.
