Pohangina Recreation Reserve StoryWalk®
A new StoryWalk® has arrived in Pohangina, bringing another children's story to life.
Manawatū Community Hub Libraries is inviting families to explore the story of Pekapeka: Secret Forest Bat, written by Katie Furze, illustrated by Ned Barraud and published by Scholastic New Zealand.
The story follows Pekapeka, a tiny native New Zealand bat, introducing readers to one of our country's fascinating and rarely seen creatures.
As you make your way along the reserve pathway, pages from the book are displayed on boards, allowing children and adults to enjoy the story together while exploring the natural surroundings.
This StoryWalk® also has something new! Visitors can scan the QR code on the boards to listen to the story being read aloud as they follow along. Whether you prefer to read, listen or do a bit of both, it's another way for the whole family to enjoy the experience.
Pack some snacks, gather the whānau and head to Pohangina for a little adventure! It's a great excuse to get outdoors, discover somewhere new and explore the Manawatū District, one story at a time.
