Digitising the Past
Every photograph holds a story: a moment, a memory, maybe even a piece of Feilding’s past waiting to be rediscovered. At Te Āhuru Mōwai, new technology and new sessions are making it easier than ever to bring those stories back to life and digitally preserve them for the future.
A valuable new addition to the Feilding and District Heritage Collection is an Epson photo scanning system that makes digitising old photographs quick and easy. Unlike traditional flatbed scanners, it lets users load a stack of photos at once, automatically scanning both sides and saving them to a computer. It also captures handwritten notes on the back, helping preserve important details. The result is a simple, user-friendly way for anyone to preserve and share their personal history.

The group meets weekly on Wednesday mornings (10:00am–12:00pm) and provides access to valuable research tools.
By blending community knowledge with modern technology, Feilding’s history is not just remembered but continues to grow and be rediscovered.
