New Carpark Opens Near Te Āhuru Mōwai in Feilding

A newly completed carpark on Hobson Street in Feilding is now open and offering all-day parking for visitors, marking a welcomed improvement for both locals and those visiting the area.

The carpark, which includes 49 spaces, is strategically located to benefit users of the nearby Te Āhuru Mōwai. Among these spaces, four are specially designated for people with disabilities, ensuring better accessibility for all. A wide footpath, complete with plantings, connects the carpark directly to the building, further enhancing its convenience for visitors.

Community hub staff are particularly pleased with the new addition. They say the extra parking will greatly improve accessibility for people using the facility, making it easier to enjoy the range of resources, services, programmes, and events offered. "This carpark provides more options for our patrons, making their experience at Te Āhuru Mōwai more seamless," said Warrick Taylor Library Services Leader. "It’s a great step forward in supporting the community."

In addition to being a much-needed boost for the Hub, the carpark is a significant asset to the onsite cafe, No Knead to Book and the wider Feilding area. The 49 all day parking spaces are expected to help alleviate parking congestion in the town centre.

A standout feature of the carpark is its lighting. Nine light towers have been installed ensuring the area is well-lit to provide a safe and welcoming environment for those who utilise Open Plus. Security cameras will also be installed to support ongoing safety efforts. As the town of Feilding continues to grow, the addition of the new carpark is seen as a positive development that not only addresses a practical need but also contributes to the ongoing improvement of the local area. The new addition benefits everyone, from regular library-goers to new visitors and local businesses alike.
