Story Magic in Motion
Imagination is coming to life at the MCHL, as finalists from the New Zealand Children’s and Young Adults Book Awards (NZCYA) visit Manawatū Community Hub Libraries to host an interactive panel and live storytelling workshop.
This rare event, happening on Monday 21 July at 4pm, will feature acclaimed Kiwi authors discussing their craft, inspirations, and the art of writing for young readers. That is just the beginning!
In a unique twist, authors will be on stage sketching in real time as they collaboratively build a brand-new story with input from the audience. It’s a dynamic mash-up of creativity and spontaneity that offers insight into the creative process—and promises plenty of surprises.
“This is such an exciting opportunity for our community,” said Marie Willis, MCHL Programmes Leader. “MCHL is thrilled to give local readers the chance to meet some of New Zealand’s top literary talents face to face.”
Perfect for curious kids, aspiring writers, budding artists, and teachers, this event brings the behind-the-scenes magic of book creation out into the open.
The event is free and open to all, with no registration required. Don't miss this unforgettable afternoon of storytelling, creativity, and connection.
This opportunity is proudly supported by REALM – Reading and Literacy in Manawatū, in partnership with the Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL), supporting literacy and learning in our community.
Lydia Smith, Programmes Assistant at MCHL, reads to children during story time.
