Summer Reading Photo Challenge

This summer, we are celebrating taking the Library in Your Pocket! Throughout the summer months we invite you to share a photo of your summer reading in an interesting or scenic location such as at the beach, on a road trip, at your campsite, or anywhere your summer takes you.
Whether you are reading an eBook at the beach, listening to an audiobook at a lookout, watching a movie in a comfy spot or relaxing with a book in your backyard hammock. We would like to see your favourite summer reading spots.
Bonus points if you are using Libby, BorrowBox, Hoopla, Beamafilm or any of our digital library apps!
You could win!
Everyone who enters goes into the draw for one of these prizes:
- A Makerspace experience (a booking to create something valued up to $30)
- A book voucher
Competition Duration
Runs from 5 December to 28 February.
Winners will be contacted directly and announced on MCHL social media on Monday March 2, 2026.
Send us a photo of yourself enjoying a good book this summer. You don't have to be fully visible! A hand holding the book or a creative flat-lay works perfectly.
Make sure your book, magazine, eReader, tablet, or phone is visible and choose a location that shows off your summer. Submit as many photos as you want!
Include a brief sentence about the photo. For example, "Foxton Beach afternoons spent reading Lucinda Riley."
You can share your photo with us by:
- Sending a direct message to Manawatū Community Hub Libraries on social media
- Emailing us at mchl@mdc.govt.nz
By sending your photo, with your name and contact details. You are giving us permission to share it.
By submitting your photo, you confirm that:
- You have permission from everyone in the image
- You consent to Manawatū Community Hub Libraries using the photo on our social media channels, website, digital displays and promotional material.
Photos may be edited for clarity or formatting.
