Library in Your Pocket
This summer, readers are invited to take the library wherever the season takes them with Library in Your Pocket competition! From sunny beach towels and roadside lookouts to backyard hammocks and cosy corners, snap and share a photo of your summer reading spot.
Whether you are reading an eBook at the beach, listening to an audiobook on a walk, watching a movie in a comfortable spot, or relaxing with a paperback under the sun, Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL) would love to see where your summer reading takes you. Bonus points for photos that feature the library’s digital apps, including Libby, BorrowBox, Hoopla, and Beamafilm, highlighting just how accessible the library can be wherever you are.
The competition runs from 10 December to 28 February, with entries going into the draw to win an MCHL prize pack. The prize includes a $50 book voucher and a Makerspace experience, with up to $30 in materials to create something unique. Winners will be contacted directly and announced on Manawatū Community Hub Libraries social media channels on Monday, 2 March 2026.
To enter, send us a photo of yourself enjoying a good book or library content this summer. Faces don’t need to be visible, hands holding a book or eReader, or a creative flat-lay are perfect, as long as the reading or viewing material can be seen. Include a short caption for example, “Foxton Beach afternoons spent reading Lucinda Riley”, and feel free to enter more than once. Submit your contact details, photo, and caption via MCHL social media direct message or by emailing mchl@mdc.govt.nz. By sending your photo, you give permission for it to be shared, and we will feature some of our favourites on social media over the summer months.
