Hop, toss and play

Thanks to a successful application to the Tū Manawa Quick Release Fund, MCHL has received funding to purchase new play equipment, creating more opportunities for the community to get active, try something different and enjoy time together.

Play isn't just for kids, and this NZ Play Week, Manawatū Community Hub Libraries (MCHL) is celebrating the importance of play, creativity and connection at every age.

Thanks to a successful application to the Tū Manawa Quick Release Fund, MCHL has received funding to purchase new play equipment, creating more opportunities for the community to get active, try something different and enjoy time together.

The new additions include things like a hopscotch game, bean bag toss game and a range of soft play items, bringing plenty of opportunities to jump, balance, aim, explore and, most importantly, have fun.

While libraries have traditionally been places to discover stories, they're also places to connect, explore, learn and play. These new additions will help MCHL continue to create experiences that bring people together and encourage a little more movement and imagination along the way.

And that's what NZ Play Week is all about. Celebrating the value of play in our everyday lives and reminding us that play doesn't have an age limit.

Whether it's a competitive game of bean bag toss, hopping your way through a childhood favourite play helps build confidence, develop skills, strengthen connections and support wellbeing.

MCHL is grateful for the support of the Tū Manawa Quick Release Fund, which has helped turn a few simple ideas into new opportunities for the community to enjoy.

So, when was the last time you played a game of hopscotch? Perhaps it's time to give it another go!
