Murder at Sundown

Dust off your boots, tip your hat, and keep one hand close to your alibi, trouble is riding into town. Manawatū Community Hub Libraries invites you to a Murder at Sundown in Silver Creek, a Wild West murder mystery evening set to unfold on Saturday 15 August 2026.

Guests can choose to attend as a sleuth determined to crack the case or saddle up as one of 12 scripted character roles stitched into the story faster than a sheriff’s wanted poster. Expect secrets, suspicious townsfolk, twists at every turn… and one unlucky victim.

The 18+ evening will feature a licensed bar, supper, and prizes for Best Dressed, Best Sleuth, and Most in Character. Tickets are $40 per adult, including a complimentary drink and supper.

Community Programmes Manager Marie Willis says the event promises to be a night of mystery, suspense, and Wild West intrigue. “The programmes team and I love creating events like this that bring people together for a night of mystery.

The Pātiki large event space at Te Āhuru Mōwai will be transformed into a wild west saloon in the township of Silver Creek. We are excited to see the space come alive and attendees fully embracing their characters for a rootin’-tootin’ evening of suspense, laughter, and sleuthing.

Whether you are a quick-draw detective or the type to stir up trouble at the saloon, this is your chance to dress up, step into character, and see if you can solve the crime before the sun sets on Silver Creek.

Prepare for a night where everyone’s got a secret and nobody’s above suspicion. In Silver Creek, the truth can be harder to catch than an outlaw on horseback.
